In our ongoing efforts to share knowledge, promote successful business models, and inspire sustainable practices, on January 29, Stefan Joss, Project Director at Helvetas Albania, participated in the #TEDxUNISHK event on "Sustainable Destination Planning and Management”, at University of Shkodra.

Stefan provided insights for three typical juridical types of DMO either association, Ltd, or shareholding company from Switzerland, emphasizing the need for public private partnerships as most DMOs are small and have limited possibilities to generate income, as it is also the case in Albania. His focus was on the importance of public-private partnerships in sustainable tourism.

Additionally, Kristina Fidhi from Visit Gjirokastra Association shared lessons learned from their experience in strengthening regional partnerships towards tourism destination management. Mirtjon Mita, tourism expert, highlighted the three dimensions of sustainability, ecology, social and economic, as well as showcased examples of organizational structures and development.

The event offered valuable knowledge on best practices, challenges, and strategies in sustainable tourism development. Together, we are working to enhance tourism in Albania!
