We are thrilled to announce the launch of the first Albergo Diffuso in Albania, held in the picturesque town of Kruja. This momentous event brought together distinguished guests such as:

H.E. Ruth Huber – Swiss Ambassador to Albania

Ms. Vilma Bello – Deputy Minister of Tourism and Environment

Prof. Giancarlo Dall’Ara – President of Albergo Diffuso International

Mr. Ilir Loci – Deputy Mayor of Kruja

This landmark occasion signifies a significant step towards promoting sustainable tourism and preserving cultural heritage in Albania. The Albergo Diffuso concept, originating in Italy, has now made its way for the first time in Albania and the Balkan region overall, ranking Albania 5th among European countries and 8th globally in implementing this innovative model, which was supported by RisiAlbania, a project of SDC, implemented by Helvetas, as well as the Ministry of Culture through the “Revitalization Bonus”.

Albergo Diffuso, meaning “scattered hotel,” offers a unique and innovative approach to hospitality. By repurposing existing buildings, it breathes new life into historic towns and villages, providing visitors with an authentic experience. The launch of the first Albergo Diffuso in Albania highlights the importance of collaboration between local actors, communities, Albergo Diffuso International, and the Albanian government. This united effort promises a bright future for sustainable and responsible tourism in the region, reaching high-value markets, while in the same time cultural heritage is preserved, communities are empowered, and visitors can immerse themselves in an authentic and unforgettable experience.
