The green transition is a global movement that aims to reduce the environmental impact of human activities and promote sustainable development. It is also a key driver for creating new jobs and enhancing the skills of the workforce.

RisiAlbania recognizes the importance of green skills, which are the knowledge, abilities, and attitudes that enable workers to perform tasks in an environmentally friendly manner. Green skills are essential for adapting to the changing demands of the labor market and contributing to the green transition of various sectors, such as tourism, agriculture, and ICT. Therefore, RisiAlbania has partnered with three reputable training providers to design and deliver innovative and market-oriented courses on green skills for young people.

IMAA Foundation – Innovation Management Academy Albania: This foundation aims to assess the green skills training needs of both youth and companies and to develop six new curricula on topics such as green entrepreneurship, green marketing, and green innovation. The foundation also plans to enhance the capacities of its instructors to offer high-quality and interactive courses that meet the expectations of the learners and the employers.

Albacademy: This academy specializes in hotel management and tourism and intends to design and introduce new training offers in green skills that are integrated into its existing curriculum. The academy will equip more than 100 young people with green skills that are relevant for the Albanian tourism market, such as waste management, energy efficiency, and eco-friendly practices. The academy hopes to not only address the immediate needs of the hospitality industry but also to support its long-term sustainable growth.

European University of Tirana: This university is one of the leading higher education institutions in Albania and plans to design and introduce a short-term course in tourism with a special focus on green transition and digital elements. The university will train over 50 young people in green skills that combine environmental awareness with digital proficiency, such as online marketing, e-commerce, and digital platforms. The university aims to prepare its graduates for the modern challenges and opportunities of the evolving tourism sector.

These initiatives were launched in October 2023 and are expected to run until the end of 2024. Through these initiatives, RisiAlbania hopes to empower the youth with green skills that will enhance their employability and income, as well as their contribution to the green transition of the Albanian economy and society. RisiAlbania is thus a catalyst for sustainable development practices.
