From September 5th to 9th, the Albanian delegation, led by the Deputy Minister of Finance and Economy, Ms. Olta Manjani, with Albin Gega, Director of Policies for Employment and Education; Ejvis Gishti, Director of NAVETQ; Klevis Hysa, Director of NAES and representatives from the RisiAlbania, a project of SDC participated as a guest delegation in EuroSkills 2023, Europe’s foremost vocational education and skills excellence event.

EuroSkills 2023 showcased the talents of young individuals from diverse countries, highlighting the benefits of national and international skills competitions for mutual learning and expertise enhancement. The presence of the delegation underscored Albania’s commitment to vocational education and skills development . During their visit, the Albanian delegation held substantive discussions with Laurence Gates, a board member of WorldSkills Europe, regarding Albania’s potential membership in EuroSkills. Additionally, they engaged with David Hoey, CEO of WorldSkills, and representatives from SwissSkills, LuxemburgSkills, and LiechtensteinSkills to gain insights into their national competitions and EuroSkills experiences.

Albania’s participation in international skills competitions serves as a significant opportunity to promote vocational education within the country, and to fostering talent and advancing vocational education, reflecting our ongoing pursuit of excellence. In a noteworthy achievement, Swiss competitors secured 12 gold medals, showcasing the excellence of Switzerland’s vocational education and training (VET) system.
